WSCP E-Bulletin - October's Edition Now Available!
The Wakefield Safeguarding Children Partnership (WSCP) has published its October 2025 E-Bulletin, offering a comprehensive update on safeguarding initiatives, training opportunities, and resources for professionals working with children and families across the district.
Key Highlights Include:
- Upcoming Webinar: A Learning Exchange on Drug Awareness – the Local Picture is scheduled for December 2nd, featuring speakers from West Yorkshire Police and Turning Point.
 
- Annual Report Summary: WSCP has released an “Annual Report on a Page” for 2024/25, providing a digestible overview of key safeguarding activities.
 
- Call for Contributions: Practitioners are invited to submit case studies and examples of good practice in areas such as neglect, child exploitation, and engaging with challenging families.
 
- SEND Toolkit Launch: A new safeguarding toolkit for children with SEND will be launched on November 3rd, aimed at improving protection and support.
 
- Education Updates: Alerts around vaping risks, Operation Encompass automation, Prevent guidance, and free Anti-Bullying Week resources are shared with schools.
 
- Youth Voice Report: The Children’s Society has published a report exploring the intersection of gender and exploitation, based on consultations with over 100 young people.
 
- Fostering Awareness: Wakefield Council has released a video series to challenge myths about fostering teenagers, highlighting the urgent need for local carers.
 
- Training Opportunities: A wide range of multi-agency training is available, covering topics such as domestic abuse, mental health, child exploitation, and parental relationships.
 
- Safety Campaigns: Seasonal safety advice is provided for Halloween and Bonfire Night, alongside infection prevention tips for babies from The Lullaby Trust.
 
- NSPCC Updates: New case reviews, mandatory reporting webinars, and resources on child mental health, online safety, and family support are now available.
 
- Feedback & Engagement: WSCP encourages feedback via its evaluation survey and invites suggestions for future bulletin content.
 
The bulletin also includes links to useful safeguarding resources and training registration pages plus much more! Professionals are urged to stay informed and participate in upcoming events to strengthen safeguarding practices across Wakefield.
