Basic Awareness:
Working Together to Safeguard Children

Watch the Working Together to Safeguard Children Basic Awareness recorded training which is an introductory course covering basic safeguarding. It gives participants information about the principles for working with children, young people and families.
WSCP advises all practitioners who work or volunteer with children and families to undertake this training as part of induction.
This training should also be undertaken as a pre-requisite to participating on the face to face Working Together Shared Responsibility training as detailed below.

Advanced Training
Working Together: A Shared Responsibility
Face to Face Delivery
This full day, advanced course is aimed at multi-agency practitioners who work with children and families and who need to refer to, and work with other agencies to safeguard children.
NB Attendees must complete the WSCP Safeguarding Children Basic Awareness course (above) or an equivalent level of learning in 'safeguarding children' prior to enrollment.

Managing Allegations Against Staff Training
This session aims to provide employers and managers with an introduction to the systems and procedures that are in place for responding to allegations made against people who work with children.
In Section 11 of the Children Act 2004 it states that statutory voluntary and community organisations should ensure that they have clear policies in place to provide advice and guidance on how to deal with allegations against people who work with children.
It is a highly recommended that prior to attending this briefing; delegates read the sections that relate to allegations against staff in the West Yorkshire Multi-Agency Safeguarding Children Procedures, which can be accessed at: www.proceduresonline.com/westyorkscb
