NEW - Working Together to Safeguard Children Guidance & Framework 2023
The Department for Education (DfE) published a new edition of its statutory guidance Working Together to Safeguard Children recently, replacing the previous 2018 edition. The guidance outlines what organisations and agencies must and should do to help, protect, and promote the welfare of all children under the age of 18 in England. The NSPCC have produced an initial summary of changes briefing which may be a helpful read - Key provisions introduced in Working together to safeguard children 2023 (nspcc.org.uk).
Alongside this publication, the Government also published:
- An updated Working Together Statutory Framework, setting out the legislation relevant to safeguarding
- Children’s Social Care National Framework, setting out expectations for senior leaders, practice supervisors and practitioners in local authorities
- Guidance on Improving Practice with Children, Young People and Families, providing advice for local areas in embedding the Working Together guidance and Children’s Social Care National Framework
Wakefield Safeguarding Children Partnership (WSCP), along with partner services are taking stock of the new publications and will be putting plans in place early in the New Year to progress the necessary implementations.
