New 'Engaging with Men Toolkit' Launched
The Wakefield Safeguarding Children Partnership (WSCP) is pleased to announce the launch of the new Engaging with Men Toolkit.
Developed to support practitioners across safeguarding services, the toolkit aims to build confidence, skills and understanding when working with men in safeguarding contexts.
Men play significant roles in the lives of children, families and adults as fathers, partners, carers, relatives and members of the wider community. However, national safeguarding learning has highlighted that men can sometimes be overlooked or insufficiently engaged by services. When men are not fully involved in safeguarding processes, risks may be missed, protective factors overlooked and opportunities for positive change lost.
The Engaging with Men Toolkit provides practical resources, guidance and learning materials to help professionals:
- Build confidence when working with men
- Reflect on and challenge assumptions
- Identify and overcome barriers to engagement
- Develop effective approaches to engaging men in safeguarding work
- Improve outcomes for children, families and adults
The toolkit includes a range of resources, including guidance materials, a One Minute Guide, learning opportunities and practical tools designed to support effective and inclusive safeguarding practice.
We encourage practitioners, volunteers and partner agencies across the Wakefield district to explore the toolkit and share the resources within their teams and networks.
