WSCP E-Bulletin June 2026 - Now Available!
Our latest WSCP safeguarding e‑bulletin is now available, bringing together key updates, learning and resources to support professionals, families and partners across the district.
This month’s highlights include:
- Seasonal safeguarding focus – water safety:
Important reminders about the risks of open water during warmer weather, including cold water shock, hidden hazards and the importance of supervision, alongside the national “Phone. Float. Throw.” campaign.
- World Cup safeguarding awareness:
A spotlight on the increased risk of domestic abuse during major football events and the impact on children, with guidance for professionals and details of local support services.
- Summer safety guidance for families:
Advice on safer sleep for babies in hot weather, alongside wider seasonal safety tips including water safety, home hazards and accident prevention.
- Training and development opportunities:
A wide range of upcoming WSCP training sessions and free learning events, covering topics such as neglect, parental mental health, LGBTQIA+ safeguarding and child exploitation.
- New tools and resources:
Updates include NCMD safety videos, new child exploitation guidance informed by youth voice, and resources from the CSA Centre to support effective information sharing.
- Supporting children’s wellbeing:
Promotion of Lumi Nova, an NHS-backed digital tool to help children manage anxiety, alongside early childhood resources to support development.
- Online safety and emerging risks:
Guidance for professionals and families on keeping children safe online, including managing social media, app use and emerging risks such as AI image misuse.
- Education and partnership updates:
Key reminders for schools, including the annual safeguarding audit, new training offers and updates to WSCP website resources.
