Suzannah Cookson, Chief Nurse at Wakefield Commissioning Group link
Suzannah has been in post as Executive Chief Nurse since September 2018 and has over 35 years’ clinical experience in the NHS, working across acute, community and primary care settings. She has extensive and varied experience in nursing and midwifery leadership roles, delivering quality, safe and effective care in provision and in a commissioning organisation.
Suzannah is motivated by working with people and values relationships to achieve good outcomes for patients and public. She gives her best leading change through people, showing compassion and kindness and harnessing a multi-agency, multi-disciplinary approach to system change, to transform and improve the health and wellbeing of people in our local communities.

Dr Susannah Bowyer, Assistant Director Research in Practice
Susannah Bowyer is Assistant Director of Research in Practice on the child and family side of the business.
Operational lead on network engagement and partnership support; Quality assurance and senior editorial lead on learning events; monthly research and policy updates, research scopes and evidence-informed briefings in various formats for a range of audiences. Project lead on a range of commissioned research and evaluation activities.
The presentation draws together key messages from a range of research, practice expertise and the voices of families on developing poverty aware practice in response to concerns about child neglect.

Icon: Babies Cry, You Can Cope! Programme link
An Introduction to the Icon programme, including key messages and resources for professionals link
Icon provides key messages and resources to let parents and carers know that infant crying is normal and there are strategies which can be taken in order to cope.
Resources include leaflets, posters and video clips which can be shared with parents and carers at any contact or ‘Touch Point’ they have with midwives, health visitors, GPs, social workers, and all other professionals working with families.

Early Help SMART Safety Planning for families
Two short case studies:
1. How an Early Help SMART safety plan was developed to improve outcomes for a family who had a history of complex needs including multiple referrals to social care (20 minutes) link
