During Safeguarding Week 2024 (24th to 28th June) Wakefield Safeguarding Children Partnership will be hosting a masterclass exploring what Serious Youth Violence looks like in Wakefield and the wider district.

Join us on the 26th June 9am – 12pm where will take a deep dive into the lived experience of children and their families, we will take a look at restorative practices and learning from audit with input from a variety of services.

Audience

This event is open to anyone who works or volunteers with children and their families in the West Yorkshire area.

Course Highlights

This virtual event will have the following input from our partners:

  • Violence Reduction Partnership – What is the local picture?
  • West Yorkshire Police – Disruption techniques, restorative working and building connections with young people
  • Youth Justice Service – “Behind the Blade”, looking at the triggers and impact of knife crime alongside effective interventions (case study led)
  • St Giles Trust – Gain a deeper understanding of the service, what they offer, referral pathways and the lived experience of young people
  • Ivison Trust – A deep dive into the lived experience of children and their families

Courses are free for the statutory, voluntary and community sector in Wakefield, however failure to attend without giving prior notice may result in a charge to cover costs. You may now be charged for undertaking our training if you are outside of Wakefield. Please see the Charging Policy for full details.
