Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) - Refresher
Outline
This is an advanced level, one day, refresher safeguarding course, delivered by WSCP, for those already in the role of DSL i.e. those who have been previously DSL trained and require this 2 yearly refresher. The legislation covered in this course applies to maintained nurseries as well as schools and colleges.
There is an expectation that delegates have kept up to date, with forums, other training events etc. between the official 2 yearly DSL refresher courses. Therefore delegates will be tested on their basic DSL knowledge during this course. Delegates are expected to have an in depth knowledge of their own safeguarding policy.
Audience
DSL’s who are due their DSL advanced training refresher.
Booking information
This training is for those previously trained as DSL’s and needs to be completed every 2 years. If it is significantly over 2 years since your last DSL training, and you have not kept up to date via other means, please re do the initial DSL course.
Delegates are expected to stay for the duration of the course otherwise evaluation and certificates cannot be issued.

Wakefield Safeguarding Children Partnership are committed with its obligations under the new EU GDPR Data Protection Act 2018 that came into force on the 25th May 2018 by keeping personal data up to date; by storing and destroying it securely; by not collecting or retaining excessive amounts of data; by protecting personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorised access and disclosure and by ensuring that appropriate technical measures are in place to protect your personal data.
We keep your personal data for no longer than reasonably necessary for a period of 3 years in order to offer upcoming courses, briefings and updates around safeguarding. We use your data to provide certificates once you have attended one of the sessions we provide, and to ensure that we have an appropriate sign in register with your name for fire safety purposes. After the 3 year period we will ensure that your data/information is destroyed in accordance under the new GDPR act.

Courses are free for the statutory, voluntary and community sector in Wakefield, however failure to attend without giving prior notice may result in a charge to cover costs.
