About this Event
On average, 1 in every 29 children will be bereaved of a parent or sibling. That’s one in every average sized class. Yet many professionals receive no bereavement training and are unsure how to support grieving children and young people in their care. Winston’s Wish will provide training on how to start to support a young person facing loss and grief. In particular, we will cover the following areas:
- Introduction to childhood bereavement and the Impact of Covid 19
- Usual reactions of grief
- Developmental variations of grief including SEND
- The needs of bereaved young people
- How to talk about death – starting conversations
- Helping children to understand their feelings and keep memories safe.
- When and where to seek more Help
- Self Care.
The presentation, followed by the opportunity to ask questions will last for around one hour 30 minutes.
