Section 11

If an organisation provides a service to children and/or young people or comes into contact with them, they need to ensure they comply with Section 11 of the Children Act 2004.

Section 11 states that all organisations who work with children and young people should ensure they have effective arrangements in place to safeguard and promote their welfare

Safeguarding is an important issue for every organisation working with or in contact with children and young people and this includes statutory agencies, large national charities, local third sector organisations, volunteer-led community groups, after school clubs at a church or mosque, youth theatres or sports clubs.

To make it easier for organisations to identify whether they have the necessary safeguarding arrangements in place the WDSCB has an online Section 11 audit tool.

Please find attached the Section 11 Audit tool.
